Fields of study

From field to market, five fields shape AGRI'SUP's program offer. Discover what each one covers, the careers it prepares for and the programs it includes.

Field 1 of 5

Crop production and agronomy

Crop production covers everything needed to grow healthy, productive crops: soil knowledge, seed selection, fertilisation, irrigation and plant protection. In Mali, it includes cereals as well as vegetable and cash crops.

At AGRI'SUP, this field is explored in the laboratory and the experimental field, through the professional bachelor's and master's degrees in agronomy and the DUT programs in market gardening, organic fertiliser production and agricultural seed production.

Example careers

  • Agricultural technician
  • Agricultural advisor
  • Market gardener
  • Seed technician

Field 2 of 5

Livestock and animal health

Livestock and animal health cover herd management, feeding, reproduction and disease prevention. Cattle, sheep, goats and poultry provide milk, meat and eggs, and support many families.

This field includes the professional bachelor's and master's degrees in animal science, the professional bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine, and the DUT programs in milk and meat production, poultry production and animal artificial insemination.

Example careers

  • Livestock technician
  • Artificial insemination technician
  • Veterinary products sales representative
  • Livestock farm manager

Veterinary practice is regulated. This list does not confirm veterinary accreditation or the right to practise as a veterinarian.

Field 3 of 5

Aquaculture

Aquaculture means farming fish and other aquatic organisms in tanks, ponds or cages. It complements fishing and meets a growing demand for protein, while requiring good control of water quality and animal health.

The professional bachelor's degree in aquaculture prepares students to design, run and manage a fish farm, from hatchery to market.

Example careers

  • Fish farmer
  • Aquaculture technician
  • Fish farm manager

Field 4 of 5

Agribusiness

Agribusiness focuses on the economics of agricultural value chains: procurement, processing, financing, marketing and the management of businesses and cooperatives. It is the field of projects, markets and entrepreneurship.

The professional bachelor's degree in agribusiness trains managers who can connect production to markets, and the agricultural sales technician DUT trains professionals in selling farm inputs and products.

Example careers

  • Agricultural business manager
  • Agricultural sales representative
  • Agricultural entrepreneur

Field 5 of 5

Forestry and agroforestry

Agroforestry combines trees with crops and livestock. Well managed, these systems enrich soils, protect plots from wind and erosion, diversify income and help farmers cope with climate change.

The professional bachelor's degree in forestry trains forest and natural resource managers, and the DUT in agroforestry, which includes synecoculture, trains technicians who can raise seedlings, develop plots and support farmers.

Example careers

  • Agroforestry technician
  • Rural development project officer
  • Natural resources technician
